Konzipiert als Nachbildung der Op-Amp-Schaltung des Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Distortion/Sustainers aus den späten 1970er-Jahren, verwendet dieses Gerät Operationsverstärker anstelle diskreter Transistoren für durchsetzungsstarke Fuzz- und aggressive Distortion-Sounds. Es integriert Regler für Volume, Tone und Sustain sowie einen dedizierten Tone-Bypass-Schiebeschalter nach dem Vorbild der 1978er-Revision für ein unbeschnittenes, mittenbetontes Signal. Eine optionale Modifikation der Verstärkungsstufe ermöglicht zudem den Betrieb als variable Gain-Stufe anstelle einer festen Vorverstärkung.

Designed as a recreation of the late-1970s op-amp Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi distortion and sustainer circuit, the unit utilizes operational amplifiers rather than discrete transistors to deliver high-gain fuzz and aggressive distortion tones. It integrates standard Volume, Tone, and Sustain potentiometers alongside a dedicated Tone Bypass slide switch modeled after the 1978 revision for an unshaped mid-forward signal. An optional gain-stage modification allows conversion into a variable-gain topology instead of fixed amplification.

Die Schaltung beginnt mit einer Operationsverstärker-Clipping-Stufe mit MOSFET- und Schottky-Dioden, gefolgt von einer variablen Höhenabsenkung und einem Ausgangspuffer. Delivering smooth and touch-sensitive overdrive tones, the Azimuth Dynamic Overdrive replicates the classic Hermida Zendrive circuit intended to emulate Dumble-style amplifier response. The architecture begins with an op-amp clipping stage using MOSFET and Schottky diodes, followed by a variable treble cut and output buffer. Frequency response and gain structure are shaped via dedicated Gain, Tone, Volume, and Voice controls, with the Voice potentiometer altering the filter corner frequency and saturation level. Housed in a compact enclosure with true bypass switching, the design prioritizes high dynamic headroom with a low overall component count.

Die Pitch Fork von Electro Harmonix in unserem aktuellen bonedo-Test beweist einmal mehr, dass auch Pitch-Shifter Effektpedale inzwischen für jedes Budget erschwinglich sind. Dieser Effekt, der in den Achtzigern in einigen berühmten Gitarrenaufnahmen auftauchte, war damals für uns “normale” Musiker kaum erschwinglich. Aber diese Zeiten haben sich glücklicherweise geändert. Pitch-Effekte sind inzwischen im Effektangebot vieler Hersteller zu recht günstigen Kursen zu finden.

The EHX Pitch Fork transposes an instrument’s pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. It uses a discrete op-amp JFET topology to create smooth amp-like natural gain and dynamic response suitable for low-to-mid overdrive tones. The design retains the core characteristics of the original with controls for drive, tone, and output volume to shape the effect.

Heliodor Amp Overdrive

The Cerulean Amp Overdrive is an updated version of the Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal, in production from 1991 to 1999. A legend in its own right, it was also the source circuit for a number of expensive boutique pedals, most notably the Analogman King of Tone, which is two Bluesbreakers in the same box with a few modifications.

In 1995, Marshall moved production from England to Korea, and around this time they made some tweaks to the circuit, increasing the gain and reducing the bass. The Cerulean project has a switch to go between both modes so you can hear the differences. It also borrows the expanded clipping options from the King of Tone, allowing you to select either soft clipping (stock), hard clipping, or no clipping (boost mode).

Azure Analog Chorus

Der Andromeda Natural Overdrive ist eine Nachbildung des Nobels ODR-1, eines etwas obskuren Pedals aus Deutschland, das unter Studiomusikern in Nashville als „Geheimwaffe“ gilt.

Die überwältigende Beschwerde über den ODR-1 ist, dass er viel zu viel Bass hat, ohne dass man ihn herausdrehen kann. Zu diesem Zweck enthält der Andromeda einen variablen Bassregler, der vom Timmy und Zendrive inspiriert wurde. Die Standardtöne sind immer noch da, wenn der Regler ganz aufgedreht ist, aber jetzt haben Sie die Möglichkeit, ihn zurückzudrehen.

The Andromeda Natural Overdrive is a recreation of the Nobels ODR-1, a somewhat obscure pedal from Germany that nonetheless is considered a “secret weapon” among Nashville studio musicians.

The overwhelming complaint of the ODR-1 is that it has way too much bass with no way to dial it out. To that end, the Andromeda incorporates a variable bass control inspired by the Timmy and Zendrive. The stock tones are still there with the knob all the way up, but now you have the option to dial it back.
