Wir wollten eine Schaltung von Grund auf neu entwickeln, die in etwa einer Old-School-Verzerrung oder einem Vintage-Fuzz entspricht … also haben wir beides in einem einzigen, hammermäßigen Gerät vereint! Kurz gesagt: Der Chicago Rat ist ein zweistufiges Op-Amp-Gain-Pedal mit wählbaren Modi für entweder High-Gain-Distortion oder fiesen, übersteuerten Fuzz-Sounds, komplett mit einem „Starve“-Regler, der den Sound bis hin zu knisterndem Dreck treibt. Gnar Gnar bis zum Äußersten … direkt aus der Gosse.

Die Distortion-Seite (Normal) bietet knirschenden Gain mit viel Output. Der „Starve“-Regler (Bleed) ist in dieser Einstellung deaktiviert. Dreh ihn voll auf und leg los.

Die Fuzz-Einstellung (Rabid) fügt Gain und jede Menge Clipping hinzu und aktiviert gleichzeitig den „Bleed“-Bereich, damit du genau einstellen kannst, wie widerlich der Sound klingen soll. Du wirst hören, wie die Textur und das Gating zunehmen, wenn du den Regler im Uhrzeigersinn drehst.

We wanted to create a circuit from scratch that was somewhere along the lines of an old school style distortion or a vintage fuzz….. so we did both in one killer box! In short, the Chicago Rat is a 2 stage op amp gain pedal with selectable modes for either high gain distortion, or nasty over clipped fuzz with a starve control knob to take it all the way to sputtering filth. Gnar Gnar to the nines… straight outta the gutter.

The distortion side (Normal) is hot rodded crunchy gain with lots of output. The starve control (Bleed) is defeated in this setting. Crank it up and blast away.

The fuzz setting (Rabid) adds gain and tons of clipping along with engaging the Bleed section to allow ample adjustment of just how disgusting you want it to sound. You’ll hear the texture and gating increase as you turn it clockwise.

Chicago Rat

Double Cocked ist ein Dual-Kanal Fixed-Wah- und Boost-Effektpedal, das in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Gitarristen Matt Pike von High on Fire und Sleep entwickelt wurde. Die Schaltung bietet zwei per Fußschalter wählbare Sweep-Einstellungen, kombiniert mit einem internen FET-Boost-Follower und einer Gain-Stufe für dezenten Schmutz. Ein spezieller Blend-Regler justiert die präzise Balance des gefilterten Wah-Signals, das in die Gain-Boost-Stufe geleitet wird. Dieses Design ermöglicht es Musikern, klassische akustische Filterungen einzustellen, die von transparenter Mitten-EQ-Formung bis hin zu schwerer harmonischer Sättigung reichen. Das Gerät verfügt über eine True-Bypass-Schaltung, kann über ein externes Netzteil oder eine Batterie betrieben werden und wird in Handarbeit gefertigt.

Double Cocked is a dual-channel fixed wah and boost effects pedal developed in collaboration with guitarist Matt Pike of High on Fire and Sleep. The circuit provides two foot-switchable sweep settings paired with an internal FET boost follower and a gain stack to add subtle grit. A specialized blend control adjusts the precise balance of the filtered wah signal entering the gain boost stage. This design allows players to dial in classic acoustic filtering that ranges from transparent midrange EQ shaping to heavy harmonic saturation. The unit features true bypass switching, can operate via an external power supply or a battery, and is built by hand.

Daredevil Pedals ist eine kleine Boutique-Effekt-Schmiede aus Chicago, die sich mit handgefertigten Pedalen in relativ kurzer Zeit einen sehr guten Ruf in der Szene erarbeiten konnte. Das Programm der Company setzt sich überwiegend aus Verzerren für unsere Freunde aus der Gitarrenfraktion zusammen und bietet momentan lediglich ein Pedal, das speziell für die Verwendung mit den tiefen Frequenzen entwickelt wurde. Kaum verwunderlich, dass es sich beim einzigen Bass-Pedal von Daredevil auch um einen Verzerrer handelt – oder genauer gesagt: ein Fuzz! Dieses hört auf den respekteinflössenden Namen “Almighty Bass” und wird heute von mir durch den bonedo-Testparcours gejagt.

Chicago-based boutique builder Daredevil Pedals has introduced the new Almighty Bass pedal. The Almighty Fuzz is an original design circuit, not a variation of some other pedal. The gain is biting and thick, with enough tonal options to cover a lot of ground without the normal low end loss that some bass effects have. Lots of volume and gain on hand... great for blending with your DI signal or your normal amp gain.

Hol dir all die großartigen Cocked-Wah-Sounds ganz ohne Wah-Pedal. Kein mühsames Einstellen und Suchen nach dem Sweet Spot mehr während eines Solos. Einfach einstellen, den Gain aufdrehen und schon bist du bereit, einen süßen, quietschenden Sound zu spielen.
Wer hat den coolsten Sound?

Was wir hier haben, ist ein sanftes, schwungvolles Wah mit einem einzigen Regler zur Einstellung der Tonhöhe. Eine Boost-Sektion wurde hinzugefügt, um dir bei Bedarf mehr Gain und Power zu geben. Balanciere diese beiden Funktionen mit dem Blend-Regler aus und stelle ein, wie viel Wah-Signal zum Ausgang gelangt. Sehr cool, um den Cocked-Sound so subtil einzustellen, dass man ihn die ganze Zeit eingeschaltet lassen kann, oder um einfach nur eine kleine Frequenzanpassung vorzunehmen. Wenn du den Regler ganz nach rechts drehst, bekommst du den vollen Effekt. Der Gain-Bereich ist warm, laut und verleiht dem Ausgangssignal deines Verstärkers einen schönen Crunch. Du musst nicht erst versuchen, vorher einen Boost zu setzen – alles ist schon da. Hol dir die Killer-Sounds von Leuten wie Mick Ronson, Michael Schenker, Slash usw. – akzeptiere keine Kompromisse.

Get all the great cocked wah sounds without the wah pedal. No more trying to engage and find the sweet spot during a solo. Just dial it in, crank up the gain, and you're ready to lay down some sweet, squawky tone.

What we have is a smooth sweeping wah with a single knob to set your pitch. A boost section has been added to give you more gain and power as needed. Balance these two features out with the Blend control, adjusting how much wah signal goes to output. Very cool for dialing in the cocked tone subtle enough to be left on all the time, or for just a bit of a frequency tweak. Full clockwise gives you the complete effect. The gain section is warm, loud, and gives a nice crunch to your amp's output. No need to try and hit a boost before hand, it's all there. Get the killer tones from the likes of Mick Ronson, Micheal Schenker, Slash, etc… Accept no substitutes.

Atomic Cocked

A delicious collaboration w/ RIOT FEST for this year’s event in Chicago, home of the world’s greatest pizza. 

Born from the brain of Riot Fest artist Dan Wade, and designed by Johnny @ Daredevil, the Deep Dish-tortion circuit is all original, and hand wired in Chicago.  It’s loaded with multiple stages of op amp gain allowing 2 different modes for Tavern (mid gain) and Deep Dish (high gain) output. There is some NOS germanium clipping added which gives this a unique, crusty lower mid breakup. 

The bottom end is big, the gain cuts hard, and there’s sustain-a-plenty.  Knobs for output and gain control. Simple, crushing, tasty as hell.
